The First tournament of the Central IL Division didn't bring out the anglers that were expected, but everyone had a good time and felt that the tournament was put together well and something that they wanted to continue being part of. The day started out with 36 degree temps with a high of only 41 and with the 14mph wind blowing it felt pretty cold. Water temps ranged anywhere from 58 degrees in the hot water discharge to 40 a 1/4 mile up the lake. The bite was tough but there were 11 bass brought to the scales totaling 27.37lbs, most of which were caught in the discharge area.
The Team of Kelly Stufflebeam & Brian Denk took 1st place with 5 live fish totaling 12.55lbs which included the 1st Place Big Bass for the day landing them a total of $435.00 for the day. Their fish were caught within a 1/4 mile of the discharge area.
The team of Mark Reed & Rick Reed fishing for BP Gas, Interstate Batteries, Buell's Marine & SUPERBASS pulled into second with 2 fish weighing in at 5.05lbs. The team did bring in the 2nd Place Big Bass which earned them $40.00 to go along with their Crock-O-Gator lure packs for the 2nd place finish. Their fish were caught in the warm water of the discharge area on crankbaits.
The team of Toby Hart & Lito Velez had a rough start with the cranking battery dead but thanks to Buck's Outboards of Poplar Bluff the day was salvaged by installing a new interstate battery. In the end the team came to the scales with our smallest bag of bass weighed in earning them a Strawberries Bar-B-Que seasoning sampler to help put together a good meal after their hard day of fishing.
I would like to say Thank You to all the anglers and our Sponsors of this tournament for making this come together. (Crock-O-Gator Baits, The Bassin' Shack, Bucks Outboards and SUPER 8 Motels)
